Medications to Avoid Before and After Surgery
For a two week period before and after your surgery, please do not take any Vitamin E, Aspirin or medication that contains aspirin (i.e. Bayer, Bufferin or Excedrin) or aspirin related products, such as Ibuprofen (i.e. Motrin or Advil). Aspirin has an effect on your blood’s ability to clot and could increase your tendency to bleed at the time of surgery and during the post-operative period.
Please check the labels of all medications that you take, even those over the counter medications.
If you are on any anti-rheumatoid, anti-arthritic, and/or anti-coagulant medications please inform us. Consult your physician before stopping any prescribed medication.
The following is a list of the more common medications, Herbal treatments and substances that can increase your tendency to bleed.
